Welcome to the Looney News update for June 14, 2007!

Looney Academy Looney Academy

There isn't a teacher among us who hasn't heard "Why do I have to learn this?" and "When will I ever use it in real life?" no matter what our subject area. Dull, boring facts. Dates to memorize and forget once a test is over. Names that are only names, not real people. That's what most kids think, right?

This month, the Looney Academy looks at History. Research shows that games catch kids' attention - and a good game can teach without being boring. Chrononauts was the first Looney Labs game that found its way into classrooms. Teachers used it as a pre-unit motivator or a discussion sparker - and kids found they could learn about history for fun. Check ot this month's lesson plan from David Millians to see how you can help make history fun to learn.

2 New Chrononauts leap into the Time Stream by Joel Carlson

"I went on a small spending bender today, picking up Chrononauts in the midst of my madness. After tonight's 3 (!) back-to-back-to-back games, I can say it was money well spent .... We decided to go for the full experience on the first play through, and I think it was a good decision. While there is a bit of Monkeying to be had, it's not overly difficult to absorb all of the rules in the first sitting."
